As innovation and disruption continue to increase, more and more organizations are looking for how to change faster in order to remain competitive. Many of those organizations are looking at Agile to do that, but tend to use outdated change management approaches that are not equipped to manage fast-paced change.

This 2-day workshop is designed to show you how to use Agile and Lean techniques to facilitate change. Lean Change Management is a modern approach that takes ideas from Lean Startup, Agile, Organizational Development, and Change Management in order to help you figure out the best approach to the change you’re faced with.

You’ll learn what Agile is, and how to apply Agile thinking to your change programs, as well as many good practices and light-weight planning and exploration tools for getting your change off the ground and headed in the right direction.

Your trainer for this workshop is Matt Mansell. Matt is our lead Lean Change trainer and has delivered many workshops in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. You can find out more about Matt on his LinkedIn profile here:

Day 1:

  • Introduction: why are you here? What is the ultimate question you hope to have answered?
  • What is Lean Change Management, and how is it similar, and different, to how you approach change today?
  • Agile Change Management: Overview of the Agile values and principles, and how you can apply that thinking to change management.
  • Alignment: How to use light-weight tools for change readiness, change liftoffs, and ongoing facilitation of change
  • Incremental Change: How to move away from traditional ROI and towards reducing uncertainty by breaking down change into quarterly objectives with tangible key results.

Day 2:

  • Experiments: How to move away from change activities, and towards change experiments. This includes good practices for communication, creating alignment, providing status to change sponsors and more.
  • People: Why the notion of 'resistance to change' is wrong, and why the "70% of changes fail" is incorrect. We'll explore how different people respond to change differently, and how you, the change agent, can navigate that complexity
  • Your Own Change Framework: We'll take the learning from both days, and discuss what your own change framework could look like and you'll answer your own questions that were created at the beginning of Day 1.

Matt is our lead Lean Change trainer and has delivered multiple courses for Silver Platypus in Australia, New Zealand and in Singapore. His vast experience in being able to lead people through large transformation programmes added to his ability to easily convey concepts and ideas makes him an inspirational trainer.

Here's more about Matt in his own words:

I am all about helping people and organisations get better at what they do. Success, for me, is organisations and people growing, developing and being successful. If I can help on that journey, then it has been a good day. This is why I work.

I am an experienced generalist leader with a strong background in ICT. I've lead teams across ICT from testing, to architecture, to service design. I've also led multi million dollar transformation programmes in large complex environments. In every role my focus has been on the people. At it's heart any organisation is about relationships between people. As a enteprise designer I've led transformations that integrate organisational identity, architecture and experience.

I have an long history in leadership; particularly in in strategy development, governance, leadership, service design and continuous process improvement. I am a generalist more than a specialist. I am happy to trust and rely on specialists and experts when I need too. I’ll always listen, and I love to debate and discuss; I love how much I learn in great discussion. I do like to challenge ideas, to ask hard questions, because I see that this helps hone thinking and action.

I am an experienced facilitator and mediator. I have successfully facilitated conflict situations between various groups such as business users and project teams and between my organisation and its vendors. These facilitated sessions have provided a foundation and a basis for improving relationships between the parties.

I am also an experienced conference presenter. I have spoken at conferences in New Zealand, Australia, and Korea, mostly on topics on IT leadership, User Experience Design, Design Thinking, DevOps and Agile Implementation.
